Clinique Lipstick: English Pink

This was a very late 1980's or 1990's acquisition. I was a relative latecomer to Clinique's color products because I had had such bad luck with their skin care. The face wash wasn't too bad, but the toner irritated my skin and the "dramatically different" moisturizer was way too heavy and clogged my pores. After those bad experiences I didn't go near a Clinique counter for YEARS. My loss, since they have some lovely and nicely priced cosmetics. (They have had some nice recent skincare releases too, but that's outside the scope of this post.)

I can't recall which formula this is, and the label on the bottom is barely readable. The case itself feels like it is made from metal rather than metal-colored plastic. It has a nice heft and has held up well through years of dwelling in the bottom of innumerable purses. As you can see from what's left, it got quite a bit of use.

Swatched in full sun

Swatched in shade.

The frost finish brings out any imperfections, so thorough prep is needed for this one, but I think the color is pretty enough to be worth the time.  The color leans a bit on the cool side and I don't know how good it would look on warmer skin tones, but on a lighter cool-toned person like me it's really lovely.

This looks absolutely lovely on! I'm not a big fan of the Clinique range in general but I really like the lipsticks, have a couple myself and I've found them totally wearable! :)
