The case is really slick. It's matte black plastic with a clear window at the midpoint that allows you to see the actual color of the product inside. No guessing from the name or from a wildly inaccurate colored blob on the bottom, just the real thing. Clever!
NYX matte lipsticks sell for $6 at NYX, but as of this writing they are currently sold out of all but one shade. I bought mine at a HauteLook flash sale.
The lipstick inside is just as impressive. Most matte lipsticks aren't moisturizing, and this one is no exception. However, it is decidedly not drying, which is an improvement over most of their competition, including many more expensive brands. If you like your lipstick sheer, this isn't for you. It's super pigmented, covering your lips completely in one swipe.
Natural isn't really natural - it's more of a mauvey pink. It's lovely, though, and wears really well. I can't keep lipstick on me at all, applying and reapplying repeatedly over the course of the day. This one lasts as well as anything I own, hanging in several hours before needing a touch up. It looks a bit shiny in the sunlight swatch, but it really is a nice satin matte.
Bottom line? If you want to try the matte lip trend, this is a great way to dip your toes in without spending $30+ on a department store line.
